The Apprenticeship Promise

Have you ever thought about employing an apprentice?

Did you know?

  • Over 80% of those employers who employ apprentices agree they make their workplace more productive.
  • 81% of consumers favour using a company which takes on apprentices.
  • The National Minimum Wage for apprentices is £2.60 per hour.
  • Employers who take on a 16-18 year old apprentice only pay their salary. The Government will fund their training.
  • There are more than 200 different types of Apprenticeships available offering over 1,200 job roles.
  • 92% of employers who employ apprentices believe that Apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce.
  • 83% of employers who employ apprentices rely on their Apprenticeships programme to provide the skilled workers that they need for the future.
  • One in five employers are hiring more apprentices to help them through the tough economic climate.

There are many more reasons to employ an apprentice and not enough people know about them.

The LEP Apprenticeship Promise is a Cheshire & Warrington initiative to enable businesses to understand the benefits of hiring an apprentice and getting the word out there.

You may not be able to take on an apprentice at the moment but as a member of a networking group you could invite the National Apprenticeship Service meet with you, why not sign the LEP Apprenticeship Promise to do this?

You may already hire apprentices but did you know you could hire an apprentice at level 3 and 4? Only a third of Cheshire & Warrington’s apprentices are level 3, why not sign the LEP Apprenticeship Promise to take on higher level apprentices?

Do you employ large numbers of apprentices? If so could you mentor a SME on the merits of employing apprentices? If so please sign the LEP Apprenticeship Promise.

The LEP has identified the growth and development of Apprenticeships as its first action to achieve its aim of a skilled and productive workforce in Cheshire & Warrington.  Please support this initiative by signing up to the Apprenticeship Promise.

C&W is also launching its Apprentiecship Training Agency. If you would like to engage with Apprentiecships but are unable to commit to employing them directly the ATA could source, arrange and host them for you.
